Dear Educator:

Welcome to The Incredible Journey from Hen to Home, an eggsciting integrated curriculum program for students in grades four, five and six.

Motivation and involvement are increased when students investigate real-life problems and these realistic lessons are intended to encourage your students to actively participate in the learning process. Each activity may be taught in its entirety or as an enrichment lesson woven into your already planned program. To suit your curriculum and scheduling needs, choose one or choose them all. Most of the lessons are limited to 30- or 40-minute segments and, for longer time periods, extension activities are suggested to enhance the learning experience.

For effectiveness, these meaningful, relevant lessons were suggested by educators to help you teach not only the basic skills of language arts, math, science, health, nutrition and consumer education, but also enrichment skills using logic puzzles, classroom cooking, economic decision-making and creativity. Providing that all-important “spice of life”, the lessons are not only varied in content but, in many cases, also integrate two or more disciplines. Throughout the unit, your students will be learning how to learn by comparing, contrasting, analyzing and evaluating.

We hope these eggsperiences captivate you and your students and help inspire the joy of learning.

Sincerely,

American Egg Board
